Dewitt, New York, December 7, 2009 -- Patients of
Lasik ProVision in Dewitt, a community in upstate New York were
surprised to find the medical office closed without warning or
explanation, yet another reminder that Lasik patients need to
select their doctors carefully.
The stumbling economy has hit the Lasik industry especially
hard and as chains close failing locations and independent
practitioners move to larger communities, patients may be
suddenly without follow-up care.
In 2001the large Canadian based Icon Lasik Centers suddenly
closed, leaving patients in Canada and the US without care.
Patients returning for a follow-up exam were met little more
than a "Closed" sign and a locked door. LasikProvision has
instructed patients to travel more than 175 miles and across the
Canadian border to their Niagara Falls.
