Behler, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist
who specializes in refractive and cataract surgery.
A Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the
University of South Florida, Fellow of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Eye Surgeons,
International Society of Refractive Surgery and American
Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery this highly
qualified surgeon specializes in laser vision correction
and advanced cataract surgery.
He has over 20 years of experience performing thousands
of refractive surgery procedures on patients from all
over the world including LASIK, PRK, Refractive Lens
Exchange and cataract surgery, RK, AK, ALK, and now
Bioptics and ICLS. He routinely combines refractive
surgery with cataract surgery enabling patients to see
and read without glasses and has been performing refractive
lens and cataract surgery longer than any other LASIK
surgeon in the Tampa Bay area. He has been performing
LASIK since it became available and was the first surgeon
in the Tampa Bay area to perform hyperopic LASIK and
the first surgeon in the Western Florida certified in
CustomVue LASIK. Dr. Behler has been performing CustomVue
LASIK since it's' availability and is the only surgeon
in the Tampa Bay area who is board certified by American
Board of Ophthalmology, American Board of Eye Surgery
and the Council of Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance.
Dr. Behler received his Master's Degree with honors
from the University of Michigan and his Medical Degree
from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine.
He completed the Harvard Basic Science Course in Ophthalmology
and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the
Eye and Ear Institute at the University of Pittsburgh
with advanced training in laser eye surgery, phacoemulsification
and implant surgery.
In addition to his surgical practice he is a surgical
instrument inventor and is a concert pianist and conductor.
He has been director of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Concert series and recently participated in the International
Van Cliburn Competition. His wife Kate was a teacher
at the prestigious Berkeley Preparatory School.
