Vitreous
Detachment and
Lasik, Bladeless Lasik, PRK, LASEK, Epi-Lasik, RLE, P-IOL, etc.
A
vitreous detachment is considered a normal event in the aging
of the eye, occurring primarily over the age of 40. However, it
is the primary initiating event for a
retinal detachment. A patient with a resolved vitreous detachment
prior to
refractive surgery may have a lower risk for a retinal detachment
during and after conventional or custom
wavefront
Lasik,
Bladeless Lasik,
PRK,
LASEK, and
Epi-Lasik.
A complete exam by a competent
doctor should provide the evaluation necessary to determine if a
previous vitreous detachment would be problematic for the refractive
surgery proposed.
If you are ready to choose a doctor to be evaluated
for conventional or custom wavefront Lasik, Bladeless Lasik, PRK,
LASEK, Epi-Lasik, RLE, or any refractive surgery procedure,
we highly recommend you consider a doctor who has been evaluated
and certified by the USAEyes nonprofit organization.
